Caring for people and each other
- for Families
- for the Elderly
- for Children
- for the Homeless
- How do we do it?
- In all sorts of ways ...
- ... depends on the Mission and Spirituality of the Congregation ...
- ... because everyone is UNIQUE!
Daughters of Wisdom
- Integrating Life
- Seeking wholeness and meaning?
- Looking for a spirituality that offers Wisdom to the World?
- Everything that is said of Eternal Wisdom in Creation ...
- ... is also said of Jesus in Creation!
- Yahweh possessed me (Wisdom)
- the first fruits of his fashioning before the oldest of his works. Pr 8:22
- I (Wisdom) searched for rest ...
- ... a place to pitch my tent ...
- ... I pitched my tent in Jacob Sir 24:8
- The Word became flesh ...
- ... and pitched his tent among us. Jn 1:14
- Herself unchanging ...
- ... she renews the world. Wis 7:26
- In Christ there is a new creation; the old order is gone and a new one is being born. 2 Cor 5:17
- Wisdom passes into Holy Souls ...
- ... making them friends of God and prophets. Wis 8:27
- You are my friends ...
- ... I shall no longer call you servants.
- Go out and bear fruit. Jn 15:16
- “The Lord, Master of the Universe, will prepare ...
- ... for all the peoples
- ... a banquest
- ... of succulent meats
- ... and of the finest wines.” Is 25:6
- On that day the Lord will wipe away the tears from every face ...
- ... for he has promised it! Is 25:8
- I have seen my people’s misery ...
- We, Daughters of Wisdom, are sent into a world where injustice, hunger, disbelief and other forms of alienation, exist. However, aware of the seeds of hope already present, we take an active part in the building of the Kingdom ... (RL 6)
- Creation’s global solidarity and the promise of Wisdom’s Banquest give the vow poverty its foundation and meaning.
- It is easy to verify the fact that:
- Actual economic poverty is the lot of most people in our world.
- We are living in a time of wanton destruction of our planet’s environment.
- How can we make Wisdom’s banquet a reality in our world?
- By remaining constantly aware of our fundamental poverty
- By truly living the values of sharing and holding all things in common
- By developing the art of appreciating everything in creation
- By finding ways to live in solidarity with the poor
- To live in solidarity with the poor in the struggle against destructive poverty ... (Apostolic Dimension)
- To make a genuine option for the poor:
- We do not work ‘for the poor’. We work ‘with’ them.
- We do all we can to help the poor to have their say in society and to ensure that their voice is heard.
- When something deprives the poor of their dignity, we speak out and defend.
- We need to invent new forms of commitment and action that can help the poor to take their own destiny in hand.
- We support and take part in actions that address the causes of poverty.
- We look for ways to act globally at congregational, provincial and regional levels.

The Daughters of the Cross
- A Compassionate heartbeat in the world
- Who are the Daughters of the Cross?
- An international group of Roman Catholic women who have been called to understand and proclaim to others that the love of God has been revelaed to us in the most striking way in the Passion and Death of Jesus
- Blessed Marie Thérèse Haze
- Foundress.
- She was conscious of her vocation very early in her life.
- Because of her experience of the Cross, Jeanne and her sister Ferdinande were drawn to those most in need.
- The congregation of the Daughters of the Cross was born in Liege, Belgium, on the 8th September, 1833.
- Blessed Marie Thérèse was beatified on the 21st April 1991.
- Canon Habets
- Co-founder
- The Bishop of Liege had asked the young priest to draw up a rule for the sisters.
- He remained a constant guide and support.
- Both he and Marie Thérèse died in 1876.
- The little community responded whenever they could to the needs of the people aound them 舑 nursing the sick in their own homes, caring for women prisoners, teaching children by day and adults in the evening. Before long, communities were founded in Germany (1849), India (1861) and England (1863). By the time Marie Thérèse died on January 7th 1876, she had received more than 900 Sisters into the Congregation and founded 51 communities.
- You will also find Daughters of the Cross in:
- Belgium
- Brazil
- Cameroon
- Germany
- Italy
- India

- California
- In Britain and Ireland, on Holy Island, at Bury & Blackley, Much Hadham, Chelsea, North Cheam, Broadstairs Haslemere, Hayle and Stillorgan.
- Our ministries in the English Province are many and varied. For example, you will find us:
- Visiting and caring for the sick.
- Visiting and supporting prisoners.
- Assisting in local schools and hospitals.
- Enabling people with disabilities to live fulfilled lives.
- Offering bereavement services to those in need.
- Recognising the needs of the times and being prepared to engage in new ministries.
- As the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross enters into the final quarter of the second century of its existence, the Sisters continue to serve and help wherever they are invited.
- Associates of the Daughters of the Cross are men and women who are invited to live their call to holiness by journeying with the Daughters of the Cross and Blessed Marie Thérèse in the footsteps of Christ.
- Associates receiving their membership cross from Sister Veronica Hagen, the Sister Provincial of the English Province.
- We share our Vision, Mission and Apostolate with our co-workers. Now, more than ever aware of the high standards of professionalism in so many fields, we value the support of those who are not only co-workers, but also friends.
- “The Daughters of the Cross will serve Christ in the work of general and special education, abandoned children, the physically and mentall disabled, the socially deprived, local pastoral work and the various needs of the Church.”
